Installation of heating batteries

Installation of heating batteries is a task that the solution of which must be approached very responsibly. Mistakes are unacceptable here. After all, how correctly and efficiently the replacement of radiators will be carried out, the functioning of the heating system will depend. Of course, it is better if this work is engaged in specialists of plumbing firms. However, if you stock up on the necessary tool and skills, you can install heating radiators yourself.

DIY heating batteries

Before starting the installation of the battery, it is necessary:

Have information about existing connection methods. The main methods of connecting are: side one -sided, lower, diagonal, consistent and parallel. The most common of them is the lateral. This method provides high heat transfer. The lower connection is suitable if the pipes are hidden under the baseboard or are under the floor. If the radiator has many sections, it is better to use a diagonal connection. In this case, the supply and outlet pipes are located on different sides of the radiator. Less commonly used parallel and consistent connection. The disadvantage of these methods is inconvenience in emergency situations when a complete disconnection of the heating system is required.

Comply with the basic connection rules.

Make the necessary calculations and measurements. When calculating the number of sections, the technical characteristics of a particular type of heating radiator are taken into account. Usually for heating 2 kV. m required one section, rounding is customary to do it.

Have a tool. From the tools, a screwdriver, a shock drill, level, keys and sandpaper are required to clean up the compounds (except bimetallic and aluminum radiators).

The installation of heating radiators is best done before or after the heating period. Installation should be carried out according to the connection diagram depending on the specific type of radiator. This scheme must be prepared in advance along with all the necessary tools and details. Before starting installation, it is necessary to turn off the heating system and lower the water. The remaining water is removed using a pump. It is better to have containers or rags at hand to remove excess water in time.

After all the preparatory work has been carried out, the material of the heating radiators is selected and the number of sections is designed directly to the installation.

Stages of installation

The installation of heating batteries in the apartment consists of the following stages:

Dismantling of old heating equipment.

Marking places where heating batteries will be attached.

Installation of brackets. The installation of brackets is carried out using fasteners. It should be borne in mind that the more sections, the more fasteners will be required.

The installation of the Maevsky crane necessary to remove excess air from the system is carried out.

Installation of a thermostat, which is necessary for automatic temperature control.

Installation of heating batteries. Regardless of what heating radiators were selected (cast iron, bimetallic or aluminum) when they are installed, certain distances should be observed. This is necessary in order to ensure normal heat transfer and the movement of warm air. The distance from the floor to the windowsill should be at least 5 cm, and from the wall-at least 10 cm.

Contact the heating batteries with the pipes of the system.

The final stage in the installation of heating batteries in the apartment is the launch of the system in order to check the operation of all heating elements, as well as the uniformity of heating of heating radiators. If air traffic jams are formed during the audit in the system, then excess air is discharged using the Maevsky crane. The presence of an air traffic jam is judged by uneven heating of the heating battery.

When installing heating batteries in the apartment with your own hands, you should pay attention to the quality of the compounds of heating elements. Since the water in the system is under pressure and in places of poor connection may occur a leak. Also, heating radiators should not be located strictly vertically, but at some angle from the wall. This will help eliminate air accumulation in the battery. And at the end of work, it is necessary to conduct “crimping”, for which it is better to use the services of specialists. The protective film from the radiator is removed after the «crimping».
