Mercedes sale ban in Europe

The expert committee of the 28 countries of the European Union recently recommended the European Commission to ban the new Mercedes class A and B brands in Europe, as well as remove the cars that were produced at the beginning of the year from the market.

The reason for this was that the German auto giant Daimler uses an outdated refrigerant in the air conditioners of new cars. From January 1, 2013, a new type of refrigerant has been introduced into use, which is much less polluting in the environment compared to traditional cooler.

But the Daimler concern decided not to make any changes, in connection with which he was banned in some European markets. The dispute of the European Commission and this company on the transfer of air conditioning to new gas has been conducted since last year. Even at that moment, the German automaker demanded once again to explore the safety of the new substance. Daimler, in turn, claims that the new refrigerant is unstable and in the case of frontal clashes, it may even be self -disconnected.

The European Commission needs to consider this point of view and discuss at a meeting with the Federal Republic of Germany, since it is the Federal Republic of Germany is responsible for the implementation of their manufacturers of European norms. If the European Commission decides to withdraw Mercedes from the market, in that case Daimler will have the right to challenge this decision in court.

Despite this, some countries of the European Union are already taking their own steps against Daimler. For example, in France, since July, a temporary ban on registering new Mercedes brand cars has been introduced. The German auto giant considers this ban unjustified. He is also sure that the cause of this prohibition is the fear of a French car market with German.
