Checking the quality of building materials is carried out in laboratories, but often there are situations when you need to do this at home, for example, to check the quality of the material, the expiration date of which is suitable for the end or expiration. To do this, we propose to use several practical advice tips.
1). It is known that during the two-year storage cement loses 30-40% of its activity. This building material is considered high -quality in the absence of signs. When clenching it in a fist, he must completely “flow out” through his fingers. If lumps with a pea or more are found in the hand, then, obviously, such cement was stored for a long time and is characterized by reduced strength.
2). To check the quality of construction lime, a little solution of lime dough, sand and water is made (in the proportion of mass 1: 3: 3) and in this solution they put eight full -bodied clay bricks on each other in a column. After about six hours, the brick column is neatly lifted by the upper brick, and if the structure does not collapse, lime is quite suitable for use.
3). Similarly, the cement should not be present in the freshly designed construction gypsum (alabast), since it also becomes fragile with prolonged storage. You can distinguish gypsum from chalk by rubbing the powder in your hands: gypsum will seem tough, and chalk — soft. The second well -known way is to roll the ball from the powder moistened with water and withstand for about 10 minutes, the gypsum will quickly harden.
4). To determine the purity of sand, it must be taken in the palm of your hand, normal pure sand should not dirty hands. In the sand, there may be impurities of clay particles that can be removed by washing.
Previously, when laying ceramic tiles or slabs made of natural stone, I used a thick layer of sand from sand and cement with a thickness of 20 mm. Currently, I always use special glues that allow them to apply them with gear spatulas, while the tile is quickly and reliably laid.
