From October 29, the import of foreign cars into Russia that does not meet the environmental requirements of Euro-2 is prohibited. A joint order of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, the Ministry of Industry and the Federal Customs Service entered into force.

The rule for the ban on the import of cars that do not correspond to Euro-2 is valid since April 22, 2006, but to date, the procedure for determining the environmental class of cars has not been approved.
The list of Non-Grad foreign cars promise to publish on official sites. Almost all European and American foreign cars over 10 years old will be included in this list.
After the regulation of the regulations for determining the «environmental friendliness» of the car, customs officers will enter the relevant data to the PTS. Despite the fact that no one doubts the need to relate to ecology, auto experts still predict the increase in prices for used cars.
If the car is not on the black list, the decision of the customs officers will most likely be positive, otherwise the car owner will have to go through an environmental examination, which will cost about 2500 rubles. After the examination, the car owner will receive either permission to import a given car, or a motivated refusal. They promise that each check will occupy no more than a day.
Ecologists react positively to such innovations. Over the past 25 years, the release of harmful substances in Russia has grown 6 times, up to 24 thousand tons. The introduction of prohibitions on the import of ecologically dirty machines should reduce the atmospheric pollution ten times.
