Not so long ago, interesting photographs appeared on the Web, from which it follows that the BMW concern is developing an updated version of its popular super -compact crossover. There are stable rumors that the Bavarian company plans to install the future generation of the BMW X1 on the same platform on which Mini is now located. This suggests that the improved model, among other things, can gain a four -wheel drive.
Meanwhile, the popular network resource Autocar responsibly states that the coming version of the BMW X1 will be on the UKL platform, on which a number of BMW front -wheel drive models are already produced. Thus, experts of the Autocar portal suggest that most of the options for a modified crossover will still have only front-wheel drive. Experts proceed from the assumption that in this way the concern will be able to make a car with a cleaner, environmentally friendly exhaust, which at the same time will also consume less fuel.
As for the motor for the new modification of the BMW X1, it will most likely be borrowed from Mini. That is, it will be a new generation engine, three cylinders and one and a half liters. Moreover, the volume will be the same, both for the diesel version and for gasoline. Of course, the versions will be more powerful: with an engine of two liters, for one hundred and ninety horsepower. Today, the engine with such characteristics is equipped with the Mini Cooper S model.
At the moment, it is assumed that all these improvements will end by 2015 and it is then that the new version of the BMW X1 will enter serial production. Most likely, in the concern, by this moment, the release of the model of the crossover, which is made now, will completely stop.
